All Wired Up is a FIRST FRC team for students in 8th through 12th grades. Students will have the chance to learn about mechanical and electrical engineering, computer programming, graphic arts, photography/videography, marketing, web design and much more; all while helping to build a robot to compete in an international Robotics competition in the Spring. This program gives our youth a place to make friends and to learn for their future while having fun doing things they enjoy in a safe environment!

Our new FIRST® Robotics Competition (FRC) team, All Wired Up – Team 8057, was established in 2019 and serves South Lake County and the surrounding areas. We welcome students from several high schools as well as homeschooled students, giving our students the opportunity to work together and excel in the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) fields. The City of Groveland helped to establish the team and provides facility support as an initiative to showcase our youth as the future workforce for high tech companies looking to locate into the South Lake area. We won’t only build robots but also friendships, relationships and futures.

Building robots is only one aspect of what our team offers. We will provide hands-on learning experiences that delivers opportunities in graphic arts, finance, business, journalism, community outreach, public relations, fundraising, marketing, art, team spirit, arts/crafts, web design, programming and in mechanical and electrical engineering. FIRST also provides over $85 million in scholarships. There is something for everyone on an FRC Robotics team.

We look to provide training and technology expertise to teenagers on industry standard hardware and software. The opportunities presented serve to furnish students with insight and experience regarding technology based concepts and applications. The skills are acquired through an atmosphere of competition and teamwork in a hands-on environment.

Our team will also have a strong community presence. The new FRC team will be active participants in community events, festivals and various local charities throughout South Lake County. This will provide Bright Futures opportunities to our members.

Our team will also need volunteers to help mentor team members and teach skills related to mechanical, programming and electrical disciplines as well as mentors to work with students in the areas of business, public relations and fundraising.

We will be operating as a non-profit organization that relies solely on donations and sponsorships. Donations are needed to provide students with up-to-date tools and equipment for STEM education. Funding is also necessary to support our team’s participation in FIRST® events and robotics competitions. We will be looking for sponsorships from as many local businesses as we can. We are working in a partnership with Mom’s Guide to Robotics, a Lake County 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to bringing access to Robotics programs to all Lake County students.
